Converting Memory using Transcode

Many of our clients currently using Fortis 3 have memory that they would still like to leverage after migrating to Fortis Revolution. Converting Fortis 3 memory to be compatible with Fortis Revolution is really quite easy.

  1. Go to Start > All Applications > Multiling > Fortis Revolution > Transcode
  2. The window that pops up is the single, main component of Transcode. Click on Browse… next to Reference Folder.
  3. Browse to the location of the reference file folder you wish to convert. Click OK.
  4. Now click Browse… next to Target Folder. Select the new location for your converted memory.

  5. It is important NOT to make the Target Folder the same as the Reference Folder. As Transcode converts the memory files and puts them into the Target Folder, it will recognize new files in the Reference Folder and run them through Transcode again, creating an infinite program loop.

  6. Select the Language and Region for the Source Language of the memory.
  7. Do the same for the Target Language.
  8. The rest of the settings are set as the correct default values for converting Fortis 3 memory. The Target encoding is UTF-8, and the three check boxes are checked.
  9. Click the Start button in the Transcode window.
  10. Wait while the memory converts. The status window will display the files that are being processed.
  11. After you are done converting memory, either click Cancel, or use the X to close the Transcode application.
